Aggression can be measured. When it can be measured, it can be managed — in time to matter. Dr. John D. Byrnes has spent three decades building the only proactive, scientifically reliable system that identifies the observable precursors to violence before any incident occurs.
A live three-hour session — 9:00–12:00 Central — on AI for security and safety leaders, built around the same scientifically reliable prevention you just heard. $89. The Q&A alone is worth the seat.

We build and deploy AI programs that are ready today — mainly for HR, EHS, security, safety, and the protection of employees. Our focus is simple: preventing violence before it happens.

A comprehensive guide for educators, administrators, and policymakers. Published by ScarecrowEducation (a subsidiary of Rowland & Littlefield), this work established the scientific and methodological framework that underpins CAPS today. The book that started it all.
John D. Byrnes, D.Hum, FACHT founded the Center for Aggression Management in 1993 with a singular conviction: aggression doesn't simply appear — it follows a measurable, observable path. If that path can be identified early enough, violence can be prevented entirely.
A proud United States Navy Veteran (USS Nautilus SSN 571 — the nation's first nuclear-powered submarine), Dr. Byrnes has dedicated his career to developing and deploying the only proactive, scientifically reliable violence prevention system that acts on observable behavioral precursors rather than reacting to incidents after they occur.
His work has been deployed across federal agencies, the US military, law enforcement, healthcare systems, universities, and major corporations. He has presented to the US Army Special Operations Command, served as keynote at the first Protective Security Conference sponsored by Walmart, and is a regular presenter before police chiefs, FBI professionals, and state government leaders.
Dr. Byrnes was selected by the US Department of Labor to represent the United States at the Violence as a Workplace Risk Conference in Montreal, Canada, and by the US State Department to brief an international counterterrorism delegation spanning India, Pakistan, Singapore, Mexico, Uganda, Israel, and the United Kingdom — under the auspices of US Foreign Policy and Counterterrorism.
Most recently, Dr. Byrnes completed eight AI certification courses through Harvard Business School's Digital Data Design Institute (D³) — positioning CAPS at the frontier of AI-enhanced behavioral detection and prevention.
Dr. Byrnes completed Harvard Business School's full 8-course AI certification curriculum specifically to bring artificial intelligence into the CAPS framework. The result: faster behavioral pattern recognition, real-time dashboards, and scalable deployment across organizations of any size.
Every violent incident follows a path. CAPS maps that path with scientific precision — identifying the observable, measurable precursor behaviors that signal an individual is moving toward harm, long before they reach it.
Unlike traditional approaches (threat assessment, conflict resolution, restorative justice), CAPS does not wait for a complaint to be filed or an incident to occur. It intervenes at the behavioral level, when outcomes are still changeable.
The system is fully compliant with HIPAA, FERPA, the Civil Rights Act, and GDPR. It does not rely on subjective mental health assessments. It does not profile by race, gender, or religion. It measures observable behavior — objectively, consistently, and legally.
The CAPS Mobile App gives First Observers a real-time, color-coded dashboard to report and track behavioral indicators — enabling organizations to act quickly and maintain a consistently safer environment.
CAPS intervenes at levels 1–4 — when behavior is still observable, manageable, and outcomes are fully reversible.
Whether you represent a school district, law enforcement agency, healthcare system, or corporate organization — our team is ready to show you exactly how CAPS can be deployed in your environment.
Dr. Byrnes and his team conduct briefings for leadership teams, security professionals, and policy makers. No obligation. Just a direct conversation about what prevention looks like for your organization.

A community-level deployment network — government-aligned, neighborhood-grounded, built for organizations that believe prevention is a civic responsibility. Not a product. Not a fund. An alliance.
Dr. Byrnes and the CAPS framework represent exactly the kind of proven, science-grounded methodology the Alliance is built to amplify — connecting CAPS to AI consultants, business owners, community leaders, and civic infrastructure across the country.
The Alliance is not asking for investment. It's extending an invitation — to become one of the founding anchors in a monthly network of leaders committed to building safer, smarter communities.
"Government-aligned guardrails. Community-level AI deployment. Neighborhood and business resilience framework."
